Temperature Resistance
THS’ portfolio consists of a vast range of fabrics for use across a broad range of temperatures.
Before a coating, treatment or lamination is chosen, a base fabric is selected which is best suited to the application, its temperature resistance is often the deciding factor – but not always.
Most sectors which THS serve relate to high temperature applications. Secondary processes can be added to give additional specific properties such as waterproofing, chemical resistance or anti-static/conductive surface resistivities, to name a few.
We created a table detailing the continuous usage temperatures of the various base fabrics we offer;

These continuous operating temperatures can be impacted greatly by the coating or finish which is applied to it. For example, welding blankets or THS’ Weldblock range, is a glass fibre base fabric (550°C) treated with vermiculite – this treatment increases the short-term temperature resistance to 1000°C. In many cases the coating or finish will reduce that stated maximum operating temperature of a base fabric. For example, it is possible to coat glass (550°C) with silicone rubber, however this will massively reduce the continuous running temperature of the combined product down to that of the silicone rubber – depending on colour 220-250°C.
