Smoke & Fire Curtains
THS began weaving in 1985, mainly glass fibre products for composites. But demand started going in a different direction, with E-glass being in high demand as a replacement for asbestos, we then started servicing a much wider spectrum of markets to include everything from oil & gas, thermal insulation, to welding protection.
As weaving and coated fabrics grew, wire reinforced E-glass fabrics became a specialised regular runner in the weaving factory at THS, ranging from as low as 500gsm to over 1000gsm. Over time, we developed a wide range of variations to our fabrics; innovative weave patterns, utilising high spec SS yarns, adapting the ratio of glass:wire twists in the yarns and the percentage of SS wire yarn used in the warp and weft for higher fabric integrity. From here, it was only natural, that we targeted these fabrics to a very stringent market, this was of course; Smoke and Fire Curtains.
The base fabric is the core of any smoke or fire curtain, however specialised coatings are where THS have spent a lot of time in R&D developing, to enable our fabrics to compete with the best available.
We offer wide range of smoke and fire curtains, ranging from 60mins to 240mins certified integrity, coated with specialist FR Polymer, Intumescent, vermiculite and Silicone compounds to achieve the various ratings.
To showcase our highest achieving fabric for fire curtains, where the test furnace runs at temperatures in excess of 1000deg C for prolonged periods, which this fabric in particular, held its integrity for 240mins (4hours) *
